Hospitality Brixton 30th September Lineup Announced

1 09 2011

Brixton-SEPT2011-A5-Back500Hospitality is back at the O2 Academy Brixton at the end of this month and the lineup has been released today. With all the big names you would expect from one of the most well known record labels in the business (and notably a special Jungle set from DJ Zinc), it is a night not to be missed. Zinc has become more known for his house sets these days and so seeing some of the old classics dropping will be a treat.

Tickets are £20 in advance and can be purchased from TicketWeb. Doors are open from 09:30pm and I’d recommend turning up unfashionably earlier on in the evening, from past experience there are some great sets played during the graveyard shift.

Head to the Hospitality website for more info.

Festivals: Outlook

23 04 2011

As a bass music blog, we can’t help but be impressed by the monstrous line-up for Outlook festival in Croatia, which is running between the 1st and 4th of September. Offering up the very best from dubstep, reggae, drum and bass, hip hop, grime and electronica, there are going to be some tough decisions of who to see over the 4 day event for those lucky enough to be in attendance. And when we say ‘the very best’, it’s not just a platitude. The bill eschews crowd-pulling wobbly nonsense in favour of genuine, clued up quality, and is sure to get your feet moving all weekend. In fact, the line-up is so good that it’s nigh-on impossible to pick out highlights, so check out the full A-Z here.

But that’s not the only reason to go. Set in an abandoned peninsula fort off Pula on the sun-soaked Croatian coast, expect beach parties, boat parties, bikinis and a good deal of chilling out in the late summer rays. All in all, it’s got to be the best place to be this September.

Festivals, Festivals and More Festivals…

13 04 2011

There are a ridiculous amount of good festivals cropping up this summer. I’m not sure whether in my student haze of deadlines and debt that I consciously chose not to notice them until now, or whether given that I have money in recent times (relatively compared to my pre-graduation days), that I’m now seeing a world of opportunity.

Either way; there are too many well organised festivals in the UK this year (too many because I’m bitter that I can’t go to them all), with some other notable ones worth spend that little extra on to make a holiday abroad out of.

Here at Blog and Bass, the boys and I have posted the odd festival here and there that has come into our inboxes that we thought looked pretty cool, but the next mission I have imposed upon myself to accept, is posting up a pick of not just the biggest and best, but the smaller festivals that are just too good to miss.

Drum and Bass is my thing, it has been for what is worth remembering and always will be. BUT. I love jazz, roots, house, a bit of techno (mainly progressive) and the standard dance classics. So my aim over the coming weeks is to find the best in electronic music festivals happening in the summer of 2011. I think my bank balance is going to take a pounding after this one…
